Indigo-dyed leather
Dyed 'Japan Blue'. Leather born in Tokushima, the home of indigo.
We handle indigo-dyed leather made from Tokushima Prefecture's sukumo. The indigo plant contains a substance called "indican," which, when the plant's cells are destroyed, is reduced by the action of enzymes contained in the leaves, turning into oxidized indigo pigment that produces the indigo color. Additionally, the leather is repeatedly soaked in dye and carefully dyed by artisans one piece at a time. 【Specifications】 ■Leather: Cowhide / Tanned ■Size: Approximately 120 to 150 ds ■Thickness: Approximately 1.5 mm *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
